It's not just "mostly for joint pain", it's only for joint pain. At least in all the research I can find it's used for arthritis and for joint inflammation, not even one mention of using it for muscles. Please research it yourself. I think you're taking a risk if you do it, but you search it and read what shows up. Good luck, and I hope your friend feels better.

My dr treated my sciatic nerve pain with a depo-medrol injection, is the common?
I went to webmd and there's nothing there about treating sciatic nerve pain with depo-medrol. It was 1cc injected IM (my hip). What can I expect as a result of this shot? Am I going to gain weight? Can I still take my Prozac in conjunction with (I forgot to tell my doctor that my gyn has me on Sarafem)?

I was give 3 esi's (epidural steroid injections) plus cortozone shots every couple of months none of this helped, I am consedering surgery.

Side effects from Decadron and Depo-Medrol medicines?
I have allergies and have a spell with them every so often and when I go to the doctor every other time they give me a steroid shot...it is Decadron 1mg and Depo-Medrol- 40 mg. They tell me they cant give me this shot everytime because it will make my bones brittle. I have also heard it will turn you into a diabeatic if you take it too much. What are other side effects since it is a steroid will it cause you to "bulk up"because I have gained alot of weight in my chest and upper body area...just wondered if taking those shots could have anything to do with it???

Only a vet can answer this. I hope I'm thinking ignorantly and that you're not self-diagnosing your dog. That's some serious drug and I'm assuming that, if you were provided with the medication by your vet, he or she would have told you how much to inject. It doesn't make much sense otherwise.

The best medical attention your dog will get is from your local vet.

Please don't give your dog a needle without direction from a vet. It's best for both of you.

yes, so long as it is in a meal form or fresh from you. Stay away from anything with corn, other than corn gluten meal which is the ONLY part of corn that is digestible. Also stay away from ANY kind of by-products, meal or other wise. Depending on the age of the cat, Nutro has the MAX cat, one is chicken and the other is salmon. My cats have been going from one to the other. Meaning when the bag runs out, I buy the other flavor. I hope that helps :)

I was on it for 2 years. The first shot i got was really painful (it was the older version) but I started the new one when it switched and I loved it. Its a much smaller shot in the "fat" of your stomach (very minimal bruising), is not painful, and I did not get as emotional or gain a lot of weight. Plus the chances of getting pregnant were much lower. I believe when I was taking it, it had a 99.99-100% rate, though I do not know if that is true now since i was on it a couple years ago. I also did not have my period WHICH WAS AWESOME. and contrary to popular belief, it is NOT bad for you to not have your period. the ONLY problem that I encountered when I was taking it was when I missed a couple appointments and basically had to restart the shot 3 times. When you start a new birth control, chances are you will get more emotional. When i restarted it a few times, I became emotional and took a break from birth control because it was to much for me. Constantly stopping and restarting birth control played too much on my hormones, but if you make your appointments (only every 3 months) you shouldn't have this problem. I never went back on because I wanted to get pregnant, or i would be on depo now.

Overall, I LOVED the shot and highly recommend it, but you should really talk it over with your doctor to find out if it is best for you since I clearly do not know your medical history. From my personal experience with it for 2 years, as well as several friends still currently on it, it is a great birth control.

I had epidural shots last year for diagnostic spine injury . I was given depo medrol that caused my skin to?
bruise easily and seems to have lowered my immune system I feel weak all the time anyone know of any antidotes to restore my health . I take a muli vitamin along with vitamin C, L- Lystine and aderanline extract but doesnt seem to help. I work out every few days I look strong but still have no adrenaline any suggestions?

those are all side effects of the steroid. you dont need to take all that stuff,because they are not related to the action of steroids .
the best to do is to wait until the depomedrol wears off, or if you are currently taking it, try changing to a less potent type of steroid or less frequently.
also if you can get a local injection of a lower dose it would save you from the generalized effects of the drug but that depends on the type of your injury.

should i be worried after shot injection from doctor?
I had to go to a health clinic yesterday, since I had a reaction while traveling. I was given a shot of depo-medrol in addition to prednisone.

The swelling did not go down until after taking the prednisone. How do I know if the doctor gave me the correct shot and if the shot was sanitary? I never think or worry about this, but since my body didn't react to the shot, I want to make sure I have nothing to be concerned about.

This sounds reasonable to me. Depo-medrol is used for allergic reactions and it usually takes a little time for the steroids to kick in. I can't answer if it was sanitary though.

Medrol also known as methylprednisolone isn't even for pain it is a steroid to keep swelling down. Well I guess if there's not a lot of swelling then the pain might be bearable. What did you have done?

Methylprednisolone is in a class of drugs called steroids. Methylprednisolone prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

Methylprednisolone is used to treat many different conditions such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
emt Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

* problems with your vision;
* swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath;
* severe depression, unusual thoughts or behavior, seizure (convulsions);
* bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood;
* pancreatitis (severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate);

* nausea, stomach pain, bloating; or
* changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist).

I'm switching from the Pill to Depo-Provera. How long do I have to use a backup method?
I've been on Yaz for about 9 months now and am going to start Depo-Provera tomorrow.
I can't figure out how long we have to use condoms before it's effective. '7 days' keeps popping up when I looked online. Is this right?
My pharmacist told me 1-2 months??

I understand fully the risks and benefits of Depo-Provera. Please don't tell me your bad stories of being on it. All women react to it differently.
- I am aware of the bone density loss warning. I'm only 21 and will be on it for no longer than 2 years and will be taking calcium supplements to prevent that.
- Depo Provera is only being considered because it is my last option. The Pill does not work for me and my body reacts horribly to estrogem. Don't recommend other forms of birth control. Depo-Provera is proven and will help with my severe endometriosis.
-My husband and I are not planning on having children for a while. I know it can take up to 18 months for my fertility to return and I am fine with that.

I used to take depo (i had a hysterectomy) and I LOVED it! I never had a period unless it was close for me to get my next shot. Then I would spot, a little. It only takes 24 hours to be fully effective and lasts about 3 months. Good choice. If I had to be on birth control again, I would pick this. But just as an FYI, when I went off the shot, I was under the impression that it takes a year to get pregnant if you are trying to concieve. I got pregnant 4 months after my last shot wore off.......

How soon can depo provera affect your period?
I was taking birth control pills up until last Saturday, then I got a depo provera shot to change methods. So I went from one contraceptive right to another with no break inbetween. I was suppose to start my period this week, but I haven't yet. Would the depo provera shot have stopped my period already after just a few days?

Yes it may have. You may have a bit of spotting in the next few weeks as you adjust, but its probably just plain stopped. When I had my shot, I was about two weeks before my period - and I just didn't get it again until I stopped the shot a few years later.

I'm switching from depo to pill.
Igot my last depo shot 3 months ago but it made me spot a lot so I decided to switch to the pill.I was told by my doctor to wait until the weekend, 09/08, to start my pill but the day before I had intercourse and the condom broke. I started bleeding the next day and am not sure if I should take the pill still or wait? Could I get pregnant even if the depo shot was good until the 24th of sept.?

Has anyone ever taken Medrol or Methylprednisolone for pharyngitis?
Ok so I got a sore throat, cough and a slight headache so I went to the clinic. I got prescibed Medrol or Methylprednisolone. It's a pack where you take 6 pills then 5 then 4 and so on each day. Has anyone ever taken this for pharyngitis or the common cold? I dunno if it's working or not!

im on them as well and you cant tell if its working or not coz its only toughening your immune system and weakening the infection and dont take them for a cold its "bad" for your bladder

It can take about 5 days for it to start working (I've taken the Medrol pack before but for controlling itching). As for how long til it is out of the system it is about 3 days.

I would also recommend getting in touch with the doctor to let them know that you are concerned because of how much pain you are still in and want to find out more information about the next step in course of treatment.

Yes , this is normal. I was on Depo for 6 years. Never had a period. I would spot for a few days before my shot was due. After I stopped the Depo , I didnt get a period for 6 months. You will be irregular and your period will be almost non existant while your body adjusts to the hormones.

I was wondering can any one tell me there depo provera horror stories I have been looking into depo provera class action lawsuits for depo provera side affects I know lots are listed but they say they are rare but i have read so many stories that mirror mine and I don't think they are as rare as they say and I think More woman need to complain about there side affects and ask about class acton lawsuits and see if they can get one started for all depo provera side affects yes I know that by taking presciptions that i am risking the side affect but most women are beeing told that they are rare but I really don't think there as rare as they say thank you so much for as many answers as I can get. I really hope woman stop taking this birth control. It works for some woman but it seems most who use it have most or all the rare side affects listed and ones that are not.have a good day every one

I gained 5 lbs every 3 months. I was on it for a few years, so that really added up. I was also an emotional wreck the entire time. I didn't realize how emotionally off-balance I was until I had stopped. My husband made the comment that I was so much nicer to be around.

It depends on how long you've been on the depo shot. (I recently just started it) My doctor told me that it can take anywhere from 5-9 months and sometimes even longer, depending how long you've been on it, until you are able to conceive.

I went for my root canal and my tooth would not numb. The endodontist prescribed Medrol for 3 days prior to my next appointment. Has anyone had the same experience? Were you able to get fully numb for the root canal procedure? Thank you

WELL THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU TO WAIT 7 DAYS. BUT LET ME SAY THIS, I HAVE BEEN ON THE SHOT FOR 8 YEARS NOW, IM 25. ITS NICE ONLY HAVING A PERIOD ONCE EVERY 3 MONTHS. BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, MY SIS HAD A PERIOD FOR 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT & GOT OFF IT. I ONLY WEIGH 112 LBS, SO I WISH IT WOULD HAVE MADE ME GAIN SOME WEIGHT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT DIDNT. HOWEVER, LAST YEAR MY DR. TOLD ME THAT B/C I HAVE BEEN ON IT FOR SO LONG THAT I SHOULD GET A BONE DENSITY SCAN. MY INSURANCE COMPANY AT THE TIME DIDNT COVER IT, SO I DIDNT GET ONE. Does anyone at all like Depo-Provera?
I keep hearing about how much women hate this birth control.
I've just been prescribed it, instead of Yaz (new version of Yasmin), because it seems that I don't react well to estrogen. Even though Yaz is the lowest dose of estrogen you can get, had MAJOR problems with it.
I need to be on birth control to help with my severe endometriosis until I can get it surgically removed. So, my doctor thinks a progestin-only drug will help.

Anyone on Depo-Provera, or knows someone who's on it, that actually likes it? What are some of the advantages of it?

I only plan on going on it for 2 years, to prevent bone loss, and so that 1 year later I can have a baby.

Has anyone ever heard of Depo-SubQ Provera 104 (a newer version of the shot)? Are there less side effects, as it has less hormone?

I was on Depo for 9 years! I loved it! I had no problems at all. The only reason I went off of it 2 years ago is because the dr. said I had to because they found out about the bone density problem. They had me get checked for osteoporosis, I am fine. Now they have me on an IUD which I hate. Well hate is a strong word...but I don't like it compared to Depo!! Also I didn't have my period the whole time I was on Depo! Now with this IUD (Merana) the drs said I still shouldn't get my period and I do. I get it and it lasts 2 weeks! Depo was great! I recommend it!

Depo?
Okay, I got my first depo in august and I thought it worked automatically and you didn't have to wait for it to kick in, now I know you do, but at the time I didn't so I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. And then all this month October, I've been having pregnancy symptoms. Also, I couldn't keep down one alcoholic drink which is weird for me, and I haven't had a period since before I got my shot.

I got a depo-provera shot on Friday, and before I got it, the nurse asked if I had any history or breast cancers or the likes. I told her my mother had breast cancer once, and she gave me it anyway (I'm 16, too). Was it wrong of her to give me it? I'm kind of worried now.

I have been on Depo for over 5 years, and although i've heard all the so called "horror stories"of taking it, they tend to be told by people who have never been on it. Not once in 5 years have I had any kind of side effect from being on depo. Your nurse has to ask about your family health history, its simply part of your consultation, and theres no way a medical professional would put you on any kind of medication if they thought it may be bad for you in anyway. Its true that women on depo have a slightly higher chance of getting cervical cancer, but the truth is the chance is only a tiny tiny bit higher, not enough to be concerned about, and its not because of the depo, its because your body stops producing estrogen when you're on depo. ( this information came from my doctor, he told me himself its nothing to worry about) So dont worry, and dont listen to those who talk ill of depo provera, its worked wonders for me for over 5 years.

Yes, it will still work. And besides, your doctor is a doctor for a reason -- they would not have put you onto something knowing that it's going to make your BC worthless

I had one shot of depo provera in October. I decided not to continue with it and started spotting for the whole the month of January and I had a "mini" period in there somewhere too. I haven't bled since.

I was wondering how long it took for other women to get their periods back after being on this form of birth control?

Is it normal for me to not be menstrating yet?

When I was on this shot I was on it for a year and it has been almost a year since the last time I got a shot. My cycles started to become regular after about 10 months. according to a web site it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year for your cycle to get back to normal (www.webmd.com)

Does the depo shot help with cramps?
I'm on birth control (gildess Fe 1/20) for severe cramps.. Compared to how my cramps were before, the pill has helped A LOT! I still get cramps the first two days, but now as severe as before and sometimes not all if I take the pills every single day like i'm supposed to.. However, I tend to forget to take them sometimes or it takes like a week after I finish them to order them && then they don't help anymore & by the time I get my period, i get severe cramps again :/
SOO I was wondering if the depo shot helped with menstrual cramps & PMDD... Because if it does I think that would be best for me.. That way I won't forget to take by bc pills everyday..

So my question is: DOES THE DEPO SHOT HELP WITH CRAMPS?

I am on the depo shot and had a horrible experience with cramps. It has helps like you wouldnt believe! I also have PMDD very bad and it has worked wonders for me. You should really get on it

don't take depo. I hope everyone is reading this. I am 26 and was on it for about 8 years since I was always forgetting my pill as a teen. I GAINED AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF WEIGHT FROM IT ABOUT 3 -4 LBS A MONTH. depo just came out and the DR said it wasnt the pill. after 8 years went from a slim 120 lbs to 180 and I was athletic and ate right. then on top of that I was told that depo makes some people get earlier osteo (less bone density) so at 22 I was getting tested for a test they give to 50 year olds>>>> just a warning

Medrol dosepack not helping pain and causing side effects?
I injured my shoulder, and my doctor put me on the medrol dosepack. I've been on it for three days, and it hasn't helped the pain at all. And since I started taking it, I've vomited twice (and I have been taking with food as directed) and I've become extremely depressed. This can't be normal, right?

My shoulder felt, much, much better when he had me on vicodine and prescription strength ibuprofen, and that wasn't causing me mood problems at all.

Medrol can actually alter how your body responds to stress. It can also lower the immune system and leave you open to further problems. Saying that however, most meds have side-effects and if we read them all, we really would never take anything. It's obvious with the vomiting though that this med isn't agreeing with your system and you might want to look for an alternative. Vicoden isn't good for you, it's an opiate and is good for short-term pain relief only. It also won't help with inflammation. Talk to your doctor about something else, maybe Ultracet which is less harsh on your system and ask if you can have the prescription strength ibuprofen too. You might just want to try the Ibuprofen alone first, this always seems to be the most effective form of pain relief for injuries and inflammation.

How do you get rid of the horrible pain in your legs after having an IV bolus dose of Solu-Medrol?
I had an allergic reaction to something and part of my ER treatment was a bolus dose of Solu-medrol. I feel like someone pulled really hard on my legs and they are over stretched now - kind of like growing pains as a kid only 5000 times worse! The IV was in my arm, so it doesn't match the injection site pain mentioned in everything I find for side-effects. I took some advil - can't stand this anymore!!

call a pharmacy and ask. It doesn't even have to be your pharmacy. you don't even have to give your name. I call my pharmacy everytime I have a question/ issue. They have never given me bad advice. Listen to what they say. They are professionals, yahoo answers is mainly 13 year olds with no medical knowledge.

Most bc takes 30 days to get into your system. So I would ask if you should take plan b while on depo when you call.

I got my first shot about a month and a half ago, because you have to be on your period when you get your frist shot, that was the last time i had my period.

I know that the depo-provera will eventually make periods stop but i thought it didnt happen until after the second shot.

What could be wrong?

Would they ever be mixed and given as a single injection?
Decadron can be injected- I have had the injections many times before.
I went to the doctor for sinusitis and received an injection. The doctor said it was a steroid shot and I received a bill for a $70.00 injection.

The bill shows it is Solu-Medrol and Decadron injection combined.

Are they the same? Yes and No. They are both glucocorticoids but chemically not the same. Decadron is dexamethasone. Solu-Medrol is methylprednisolone. They shouldn't be mixed together.

EDIT: I've looked in all of my injectable medication compatibility references. There are no references to either support or denounce mixing them together. My statement above is based on the fact that there is no evidence which says it's OK to mix.

How does penicillin affect my Depo Provera contraceptive injection?
I have been using the contraceptive inject (depo provera) for a year and and i have recently developed tonsilitus and my doctor proscribed penicillin. Will this do anything to the affectiveness of my injection as i have been told it does with the pill.

What is the difference between Depo-Provera and the new Depo-SubQ Provera 104?
Besides it having 31% less hormone, what is the main difference?

What can less hormone do for me?

The BIGGEST difference is delivery.

Depo Provera is intra-muscular (is injected into a large muscle such as your buttock or shoulder), whereas the Sub-Q is injected under the skin of the abdomen or the thigh with a finer needle. If you don't mind the subcutaneous injection method, well...

Also, there's no problem with heavier women getting the Sub-Q versus the old DP shot (where it was found that it was sometimes less effective if you weight was over 180 lbs).

The most-often noted side effects were:
1. Changes in your bones
2. Changes to your period
3. Changes in your weight
4. Skin reactions (esp at the injection site)

Can Alesse or Aviane help with endometriosis symptoms?
I'm wondering if Alesse is beneficial in patients with endometriosis.

The doctor is not comfortable prescribing a progestin-only birth control pill, and I'm not comfortable having the depo-provera shot.

If I take Alesse for endometriosis, would I have to take it continually for three months (similar to depo)?

If you have any information, please let me know.

DO NOT take Depro-provera! I had endometriosis from when I was 18-29 with 7 surgeries ending in hysterectomy. This shot is so awful, and there is no getting out of the effects of the hormone for 3 months. It will give you mood swings, depression, etc. The only thing that really worked was taking birth control pills continuously so you would not get a period. Every 3 months my doctor would give the placebo pills in the pack to me to allow a period.

I need to know about the birth control Norplant Implant.....?
I just heard about norplant and I did some reseach and i keep seeing stuff about norplant being out in the 90's, n they recalled it a couple of times, but i wanna kno if its out today.. i want to know does insurance cover it? or at least half of it?. i go to a family planning clinic and i get the depo provera for free, so i wanna kno if its gonna be the same, and if it cost more than the depo cuz i see price ranges but its not up to date.. also i keep hearing that its banned in the U.S. n then i hear that its back im so confused !help me plzzz!!!

It's been banned for a while, but is now back on the market in the US. As for insurance coverage, contact your insurance provider because every plan is different, what my insurance provider would cover, yours might not at all. Your family planning clinic might have it and it might not, give them a call and ask, that should clear up any confusion. I don't know about you, but I'm always leary of birth control methods that have been recalled or have bad press---scares me a little...just make sure you consider all of your options before starting a new method. If you're looking for something different, I used the NuvaRing for about a year and loved it, something to consider as well. Good luck :)

Anyone in there late 20's taking depo-testosterone?
I went to the doctor for anxiety and he prescribed klonipin 2mg a day. He reffered me to a therapist who mentioned having my testosterone levels checked. I told the doc he ran the blood test and it came back at 126 when the normal levels are from 241-900. Im a little freaked out how low my level of test was due to the fact that im only 27. He gave me 1cc or 200mg of depo-testosterone in the buttocks this morning and spoke of the possibilty of me having to give my self weekly shots. Im just curious if there is anyone else out there in my shoes and how its going for you? thanks to anyone who can help.

im on depo shot right now and i asked my doctor to prescribe me megestrol acetate (magace) because i really wanna gain weight. i dont look anorexic or anything like that. but i am slim and underweight. *some tells me i look fine* but i am very concern about my appearance. i just really wanna gain weight.

anyways i convinced my doctor prescribe me magace... now i've read the side effects i could cause.
i also called my gyno and some reception-girl said it should be fine as long as im on depo.

Based on the info in the Interactions with drugs section of the Megace information it looks like it would be ok to take with the Depo-Provera but I would recommend checking with your pharmacist as well to see what they say.

How long does it take for depo-provera to become effective?
I just had my first baby on the 17th of November and I just got the depo-provera shot today. I haven't had my first pd yet since the baby so my question is when does the shot become effective? I know that if you get the shot within the first 7 days of your pd it becomes effective within 24 hours, but that isn't the case with me. Anyone know the answer to this?

I have friends who have used Depo-Provera and they said that it takes about 3 months for the medication to take full effect.

However, I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

depo subq provera 104....spotting?
about 3 weeks ago i got the depo subq provera shot. with it i'm supposed to have my period every 3 months. about a week after i got the shot, i began spotting. and just the other day i could have sworn i was starting my period because i started to get really bad cramps. but now it's just back to spotting. i know that it's common to spot while on it but i was just wondering on average how long the spotting will last for. and if it will eventually stop. help! thanks.

How long does it take for depo provera to completely leave your system?
My last shot of depo provera expired two months ago. My worst side effect was that I had period bleeding everyday of the three months after I had the shot! I decided to not get another shot and it's been two months where I still haven't had a period. I would like to start birth control pills but don't know when to since I haven't had a period. HELP!

it all depends how long you have been on it for, i had my second shot in august and im not going back for the third i had realy bad side effect i got chest pain heart racing and the palputations with mine, i got rushed to the er as a cardiac patient but all my results came back fine, they put it down to a bad reaction to the depo and said it should be back to normal before christmas, im due for my next shot nov, so it must take a couple of months after to fully recover, hopfully you havnt been on it to long some ppl take up to a year to fully recover, id drink alot of water and have bicarb and radox baths to detox the docs suggested that to me.

What is the minimum and maximum Depo Testosterone Dosage?
I recently asked my Dr. to test my Testosterone level. It came back in the low 200's. I think 212 or something like that. I am 44 years old. He prescribed me a Depo Testosterone Shots every two weeks. I can't seem to find any information on what the typical minimum and maximum recommended dosage and frequency should be. I'm not having any adverse reactions and I'm definately improving my depression, energy, general drive. I want to ask my Dr. to increase my dosage and frequency but don't have a clue as to what is acceptable.

Dekadon bolus after being on medrol does for 6 dwy.
i have been under neuro cate for 6 months for migraine. continue to hwve several/week. 6 days ago, i was put on medrol dose. headache broke but returned w/ vegeance yest around 2 pm. i took nadal spray Zonif, ayvonset. it did not help. until 5 AM this morning i vomited, has nausea, & pain so severe that i put ice packs on either side of my head. finally went to er. was given iv Benedryl,& Dekagon. i told nurse i had neen on steroids foe 6 days. he didn't reply. so 15 mins after receiving steroid, i had a major ancirty attack. had to get out of room! i told the lady drawing blood that i was extremely anxious & had to get out ofvthevroom. she said ok. i took out my iv & left! totally not my personality. i really believe that thevmeds created an anxiety attack. nice visit, but i am wondering if others have had similiar experiences?

If the PA said that you can take all of those together, and you have ALL of the symptoms (pain, inflammation, fever, congestion, and cough) that these medications suppress, and if you really want to, then go ahead.

But the medications are not a cure, and they won't get rid of the cold any faster than if you took nothing. What you really need to do is stay warm and hydrated, and rest, if you decide to take the medications or not.

I'm a believer in just letting a cold run its course though. I might take something for a cold if I can't sleep, but that's the only time that I would.

Hey you guys. I have a question to ask. First off, Back in 2008 my body starting changing. I use to have normal periods but they became irregular. So I went to the doctor & they put me on birth control pills to get it back on track, and I got that mission accomplished. Until 2011 of October I started back bleeding heavy. So I decided to get on depo shots.(Which was in Oct 2011). Throughout them whole 3 months I was bleeding. So my next shot came back around in January 2012 and throughout them whole 3 months I didn't bleed any. But during the time I was on the shot I felt kinda sick, (some what like pregnant symptoms ) but negative on the pt. So I decided to get off of them in March 2012(the nexts month I recieved my nexts shot)..I started back bleeding a little but not heavy. I told her I dont wont to get back on the depo anymore so, She wrote me out a prescription for sum birth control pills but I didn't get them. So as days go by, April 2012(by the end of the month) came around and I finally stop bleeding but during that time I had unprotected sex(every other day) with my boyfriend... At the end of the month in May I spotted a little, and that was the last time I spotted. Now this is June and Im still not on. Whats seem to be the problem

Getting off the depo shot...taking Tegretol..how long until my period?
I've been on the depo shot for about four years. My shot was due April 21 and I didn't get it. Today is May 8.

I take Tegretol XR. It makes EVERY single b/c pill not work. They had absoultly no effect on me. The only thing that would work was the shot. Even the highest dose of the b/c pills had NO effect on me. The shot wasn't even supposed to work well or at all due to the tegretol...but I got lucky I guess and it did.

Anyway....do you think the Tegretol will speed up the time the it takes to "recover" after getting off the shot? Since tegretol speeds up the amount of time oral contraceptives are in the body/it gets them out of your system faster..sometimes WAY too fast. OR do you think since the shot worked well the "recovery" time will be the same for me as everyone else.

Is the norm still between 6 months to a year before your periods go back to normal?

most likely. with the depo shot, you are GUARANTEED to gain weight. i work as a certified nurses assistant & every patient i have seen on the shot has gained weight. i had the shot, i gained 20lbs, i also was on my period for 6 months. (what a waste of money for tampons)

i recommend sticking to lunelle.

Depending on how the doctor writes the prescription it can only be taken for one week.

First, don't put foot fungus cream on your face it won't work

Those are two really good acne medications. I would give it about a month or two to really judge the effect of the medications on your acne. I don't know of any side effects.
