Which is better to relieve cold/flu symptoms dimetapp or codral cold and flu?
I know codral has codeine in it and dimetapp has something different. My boss is telling me dimetapp will keep me going and i should go get it right now! But i have a lot of Codral left. I don't want to waste my money!!! anyone help?

Does Dimetapp help with a sinus infection?
My son has a dr appt but in the mean time will Dimetapp work if he says my nose hurts? I already gave him Tylenol.

Is it bad to take Dimetapp while on oxycodone?
I was given oxycodone about 3 hours ago for post-operative pain and I've also got a bad cough. Would it be a terribly bad idea to take Dimetapp now? I'm also going to be taking Tramadol later tonight, will it react badly with that?

do NOT take tramadol with any other opiate or opioid. tramadol itself is a heavy duty opioid, and oxycodone is an opiate. both will depress the cardiac system, and tramadol alone is enough to slow breathing to the point you shouldnt take any other downers. I code blue'd in the hospital on a dose of morphine they gave me that wad too heavy. add on tramadol and i probably would have been dead. as far as oxycodone and dimetapp, if you follow dosing guidelines it should be ok. the thing about opiates like oxycodone is that people in a lot of pain can take doses that would kill a healthy person. if the doctor prescribed you the tramadol and knew you were on oxycodone i suppose it would be ok, if following dosing instructions, but with my personal experience with opiates and opioids, in the hospital and out, legitimate or not, i personally would not take tramadol with oxycodone. opioids and opiates often clash in the body, so just exercise caution. all i can do is attempt to instill knowledge that will help you better judge whether or not to do it. and good luck whatever your choice =)

Can you take advil 2 hours or so after you took dimetapp?
I am sick with a bad cold. and right now my head really hurts so i want to take advil. but around 2 hours ago i had taken dimetapp for allergies and colds. would i be ok if i took the advil?

Can I take Dimetapp Cold and Allergy with Mucinex DM?
The Dimetapp Cold and Allergy is just for runny nose, etc. It does not have DM in it. Would it make me sick/be a bad reaction or can I take it without worrying? The Mucinex helps my chest and cough, but not my runny nose and head pressure. Not to mention my desire to sleep.

In the drug interactions and cautions, there is nothing to indicate that these to OTC meds should not be taken together. I would feel comfortable doing so. However, it doesn't cost a thing to check with the local pharmacist - they are happy to help & sometimes have anecdotal evidence that isn't listed in the product information.

Is it bad that I accidentally had 5 teaspoons of Dimetapp instead of 4 tsp. Would that be a major overdose?
Do I have to got to the hospital? Should i be worried?

Im sure you'll be fine love. All it might do is make you a little dizzy. If your body doesn't agree with 5 teaspoons instead of 4 it will get rid of it. But honestly i think you'll be fine.
Think of it this way, you'll get a good nights sleep :))

I just found out and called the 800# on the container
for Triaminic and they informed me that they are voluntarily
recalling the following medicines because of a certain
ingredient that is causing strokes and seizures in children:

Orange 3D Cold & Allergy Cherry (Pink)
3D Cold & Cough Berry
3D Cough Relief Yellow 3D Expectorant

They are asking you to call them at 800-548-3708 with
the lot number on the box so they can send you postage for you
to send it back to them, and they will also issue you a
refund. If you know of anyone else with small children,
I got this in an e-mail from a friend. I tend not to believe what has been forwarded to me...but this worries me. Some of these medications are in my cabinet...
I guess I should call the med. companies and inquire if this is true, but I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this recall...
And how seriously I should take it....... I don’t want to over react but then.....maybe I should???
Oh! one more thing.... does anyone know if this 'problem' has already been taken care of?.....

To All people: American Girl is telling the truth. I've included links to prove it. (although I'm not totally positive that all those brands contain PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE).

I think that's crazy! But then again, that's how we learned in the past. Produce a product, sell it on the market, then 20 years down the road when health hazards start appearing in large numbers, we realize it's not so healthy.

Not a good idea at all. You would probably become nauseous, vomit and have really bad diarrhea. Avoid mixing these two meds, unless you want to end up in the hospital.

Is AcipHex 20mg a gluton free drug,?
problem with drug reactions, does AcipHex share ingrediants with the following: Aleve, Dimetapp, Trimox, Tetracycline, Erythromycim, Bactrim, Keflex, Ommicef, Zithromax, or is the sulfer content.

It's a purely synthetic drug, so it would have no way of having any gluton properties in it.

Equally, it doesn't share any equal ingredients of the above meds you listed that I've ever been aware of.

Not to worry. If you bloat and have diarrhea, all you have to do is stop taking it.

I prescribe this medication quite often. Works well.

Can you use Dimetapp Cold and Allergy with Afrin Nose spray?
My daughter who is 15 has a bad cold and having a hard time breathing through her nose. Do you think I can use both of them tegether. I don't want to interact with one another

Yes I think you can . Nose spray isn't an internal medicine that goes in your blood stream like cold medicine. It's superficial, just don't use more than suggested on bottle.

The list of drugs is outdated however FDA has recommended that PHENYLOPROPANOLAMINE not be used because it is no longer GRAS (generally recognized as safe). Read your labels to see if your medication contains it.
