How does Indomethacin compare to Percocet? Is it as strong? Stronger?
I am used to taking Percocet for my gout, and it has always worked great. After a recent trip to the ER, I was prescriped Indomethacin for some reason. Is it stronger? Or less?

50 mg of Indomethacin I believe...?

It's an NSAID, anti-inflammatory type of med. Kinda in the categoryagory as Motrin...So it isn't a narcotic pain reliever

Can I use ibuprofen and indomethacin together?
I get these bad tension headaches but it`s usually just my neck muscles that hurt. So I take ibuprofen 800 mg, but I also have a script for indomethacin 75mg ER. They are both nsaids and I was wondering if I could take them both b/c Im such bad pain.

No because they are both anti-infammatories. If you are in that much pain you should talk to your doctor and see if they can give you something better for headaches. I get very bad tension or stress headaches and my doctor has given me Cephadyn for them and it does wonders for me. Good luck and I hope you can get some relief.

Has anyone experienced any problems while using Indocin (Indomethacin)?
I just started taking indomethacin for the treatment of Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania - CPH and it details stomach problems as a heavy side effect. I'm just wondering the magnitude of these problems, others and overall effectiveness of this medication.

  You might want to check:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/202743.html
for information on this type of medicine.

If you go to a public library you could also check Indocin in a book called the PDR--ask the reference librarian for it.

I've read your question over and I felt the frustration of this form to not to be able to ask you a few probing questions to better answer your question. However I would like to email you a few things that will at the very least offer you some insights and hopefully give you a feeling of empowerment as a result to gaining more knowledge and I believe that is absolutely key to any problem...to take away the dark spots and shed some light into the unknown....with your permission of course.

For Patent ductus arteriosus, why is indomethacin mixed with vodka?

Because, Indomethacin is not soluble in water. Any other alcoholic concentrated beverage can work just as well...
The ductus arteriosus remains patent during about 12 hours after an oral dose of 1.2 miligrams of indomethacin of kilogram of weight of the newborn....
So the dose is repeated until surgical intervention ) or catheter patch, or better, a bilibated silastic small baloon) is placed in the ductus arteriosus between the aorctic arch ant the main trunk of the pulmonary artery
(the indomethacin just buys time, keeping the hole open)

No offence, but anything named "Mega Men Extreme Athlete Vitapak" is really aimed at the hard of thinking.

Ever wonder why stuff that works is given dull names such as 'Indomethacin'. Why isn't viagra called "Ultra Mega Stallion Turbo-Hard Dust"? Basically because the manufacturers do not need to sell the stuff to the public. Viagra works, everyone knows it works, end of story.

"Mega Men Extreme Athlete Vitapak" does nothing, has no discernible effect and is a load of over-priced nonsense. However there's a heap of money to be made from those who know no different, if only they can be convinced, within the product description, to part with their cash.

Indocin (indomethacin) which comes in 25mg and 50mg capsules, is an NSAID. This is the same category as Motrin. It is usually prescribed for anti-inflammatory purposes.

It works fairly well for my back. I'm not to sure why an NSAID would be used for kidney stones. In fact, it can causes severe stomach problems, such as GI ulcers. When I was admitted in the hospital for Kidney stones, I was taking Vicodin ES, 4 tablets a day for a few weeks.

Is it ok to take an allergy medicine while taking an anti inflammatory (Indomethacin) medicine?
The warnings say its ok if the medicine does not contain Asprin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Any ideas!

I take them with NO problems. Remember though, what works for one does not always work for others. That is one reason why there are so many different medicines for the same cause.

In some cases you might want to start off with a smaller dosage (cut one in half). Wait one hour then take the other half.

Personal with these two I don't think you will have any problems at all (my opinion).

Best of luck to you.

I was given apo-indomethacin to treat pain from gout, and now I have a big headache/diahrrea?
The pain coming from the side effects seem to be harsher than the gout pain itself. I couldn't sleep all night because of the headache/stomach pains that this drug has given me.

Is this supposed to be normal? Also, I am only 18 and I already have an old man's condition like gout. Does this mean I am extremely unhealthy?

Though headaches and diarrhea are side effects; apo- indomethacin is not the only drug to treat Gout. You may ask your physician for a substitute. And, gout is mostly caused by excessive intake of meat, which contains cells and the cells contain nucleus. It is protein of the nucleus that is not properly processed or excreted through kidneys. Therefore, it would not be true to say that gout is the disease of an old man or debilitating person. And, hopefully, it is not the disease that is un- curable, if care of diet is exercised i.e taking foods that contain nucleic acids.

Indomethacin is not an antibiotic, it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that is used to relieve moderate to severe pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness mainly for arthritis. Indomethacin is also sometimes used to relieve fever, pain, and inflammation caused by many types of conditions or injuries, to reduce the amount of calcium in the blood, and to treat a certain type of low blood pressure
It should be taken with food immediately after meals at the same time every day, so yes, take your vitamin at the same time as it is digested with food better also...
