Monistat (miconazole) cream is an antifungal agent that kills the fungus (yeast) by weakening their cell membrane in addition to its antiparasitic properties. Apply carefully into the vagina at bedtime and wash your hands immediately and avoid contact with eyes, if you miss a dose use it as soon as you remember. Monistat is not useful for itching caused by other conditions so it should be diagnosed first by a doctor prior to use. Avoid vaginal sexual intercourse, douches, tampons, spermicides, or vaginal products while on Monistat. You can stop using Monistat if your symptoms do not improve within 3 days, or if they last more than 7 days.

Why did I get intense burning with Monistat 3 but not Monistat 7?
I used Monistat 3 the last time I had a yeast infection. When I applied the first dose it felt like my vagina was on fire, but the next 2 nights I felt no burning. Now I have another yeast infection because of stress. I am using Monistat 7 and I have no painful side affects at all and I am starting to feel some relief on the 2 day. Why did I get side affects with Monistat 3 but not Monistat 7?

I'm far from being an expert in this area, but I would think it's probably because Monistat-3 is a stronger medication than Monistat-7 (due to the fact that it is a 3-day treatment as opposed to a 7-day treatment)..

Monistat 1 Combination Pack: Can I take it during the day?
I've used the Monistat creams before, and I remember I had to take them at bed time. I read all the instructions for the Monistat 1 suppository, and it doesn't say anything about when to take it. I tried some online research with no luck. I'm assuming I can take it during the day, but thought I'd ask a question here in case someone can help. Thanks!!

both douche and monistat are good for yeast infection management. you can use both of them for severe yeast infection. it is better to consult your obstetrician before trying any over the counter drug. you should also consider your diet and hygienic practices since they are factors that causes yeast infection.

Whats the difference between monistat 3 and monistat 7 medication?
I have a yeast infection. In the past I've used monistat 7 but I hate the treatments so I bought the 3 day treatment this time. Will it work exactly the same, just quicker? Why do they still sell the 7 is they have quicker treatment?

Monistat Derm Cream? Does it get rid of the yeast infection?
I bought Monistat cream that says it relieves itching, but do I need to buy those capsules as well? I know yeast infections can go away on their own, and the Monistat is just to relieve symptoms etc. so if I just use the cream is that fine?

okay to take monistat during day instead of at night?
i just bought monistat 3 ovule combination pack for my first yeast infection.

it says to insert it before bedtime, but if i use it during the day and stay still and lie down for most of the day, would it be okay?

It would be ok ONLY if you are going to lay down and not get up for hours on end. It has to have time to soak in and the minute you stand it will all come out.

monistat 3?
i used monistat 3 last night and after it made the itching waaaay worse but i used the cream and it helped. is that normal? and how long does it usually take to start working?

Monistat 3 is for 3 days worth of medication right? So that means it will usually take 3 days for it to start working and too feel maximum relief.

The medication is pretty much a chemical burn from the inside out. The medication is killing yeast and along the way will also kill a few health cells so it will make ithcing and burning worse for a while but it will subside.
Just stick with it and take all 3 days.

If you have a bad yeast infection the one day treatment is not good enough .I've had 3 doctors tell me this and I know this from experience. At least do the 3 day but the 7 day treatment (as much as it sucks) is your best bet. There is a reason they still make those 7 day treatments.

Also don't use tampons for at least 2 months and when you get out of the shower, dry thoroughly but don't rub just pat. Moisture is it's worst enemy. Also cotton underwear is important. I promise you will get rid of it if you do these things. Good-luck!

Can I use garlic and monistat 3 to cure a yeast infection?
I have just read that inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina at night can be very effective for curing a yeast infection, but i am also using monistat 3 (on my second night of treatment). Is it ok to use both at the same time or should i try the garlic after i finish the monistat? Also, has anyone tried the garlic method, and does it work?

Why did the yeast infection come back after using Monistat 7?
I had the yeast infection for the first time. I used Monistat 7 and i felt fine. Well the day after the last day of treatment, my fiance and I thought it was fine to have sex. So we did. The next morning i felt the symptoms of the infection. I bought the Monistat 1 just in case but can anyone answer why it came back or if im allergic to the lube on the condom?

It came back because you didn't wait the recommend time for the cream to kill the yeast. Yes you waited the day after but the cream needs to be completely gone and you should always wait to see if symptoms return. Monistat 7 doesn't always get rid of your yeast infection. You would have to see a doctor and ask them to prescribe you Diflucan. With this they give you one tablet you can get from Wal Mart for $4. It will gets rid of your yeast infection in 24 hours no creams. Yes if you're using brands like Durex that tends to irritate females more. Lifestyles is a very good brand it's nice and smooth. Beyond Seven is nice as well and Trojan is okay. I would recommend trying to switch condom brands. Before you go trying another cream you need to get Vagisil screening kit to make sure it is a yeast infection and not something else.

I had a yeast infection about 5 days ago and I used Monistat 3. But now its back again. What should I do?
My mom will not take me to the doctor. She said I should just use Monistat 3 again, but i think i should go to the doctor. It also feels like there are scratches by my vagina but I am not sexually active.

If you can't get into the doctor, you can try a different brand of antifungal like canesten. Read the box and it will tell you what the active ingredient is. I think monistat's active ingredient is miconazole. You might have had a reaction to this and that is why you feel like you have irritation down there.

You can also try some home remedies too. There are a bunch listed at www.yeast-infection-answers.com/home-remedies-for-yeast-infections.html .

Also, make sure you are either eating plain, unsweetened yogurt with active bacteria cultures or that you are taking probiotics. This helps replace the over active candida albicans yeast with some good bacteria. Good luck - if all this doesn't help - you should go back to your doctor.

monistat...?
I have a yeast infection and my mom bought me monistat for it.

I was reading the directions and it kept saying things about "while you're using the product", like don't use a tampon and don't have sex. But it looks to me like it's just a one time thing; I just insert it once.

How long would I actually be considered "using the product"?

The medication is still working for 3-7 days. You wouldnt want to insert anything into the vagina for at least a week so that you dont interupt the medication. Hope this helps.

Yeast Infection/Monistat?
I think I have a yeast infection, I started feeling itchy and noticing more discharge than usual about 5 days ago, a few days after I finished my period. My symptoms are slight itching in the day and severe at night, dryness and occasional abdominal pain. I took Monistat 1 (the ovule kind), this past Wednesday evening before bed. I have noticed that I have more itching than I did before I took the Monistat. I have been applying the cream that came with combination pack but it only seems to work for about 30 minutes. Is this normal for the itching to continue? Should I see a doctor, or wait for a full 7 days first to see if it goes away? I am unsure what to do. The itching is really bothering me.

First please be advised that a yeast infection is easily passed through sexual activity in other words you can give it to your man so make very certain you avoid any of that til well after the synptoms are gone. Just as you can pass it to him he can have passed it to you. Now no disrespect to you im not sure of you age or if your sexually active doesnt matter to me its just allways good information to know.ok take it from me i got A horrible YEAST INFECTION from a antibiotic "Cocktail" I was given for a totally differant medical issue, and if ive ever told the truth, here it is...the only, i mean ONLY thing that worked for me was to basically douche with PLAIN WHITE YOGURT!! The PH level of a womans vagina is very very touchy it has to be to keep the inviroment PERFECT for contraception to happen otherwise it would kill off the sperm and we wouldnt be able to have babies. and when it gets sort of, for lack of a better term, "Thrown Off" it gets angry and fights back with a host of what are Normal yeast cultures that we have in there naturally. They are for keeping homeostasis, "Perfect balance". So when something throws it "off whack" our ph level that is, we fight back. Now plain white yogurt is full of live cultures (I think thats the term for em) and when you introduce them into this war going on between your legs(again for lack of a better term) Im not exactly sure of the exact way it assists our own natural yeast but it does and for me IT WORKED and it certainly is worth a try Cuz it cant hurt you. Heres how ya do it or rather how I did it. I filled up one of those applicators you would use to administer contraceptive foam inside of you and basically i inserted it as i would have the foam.I would assume that even a cardboard tube or one of the plastic one MINUS the tampon would work also. REMEMBER to WASH IT WITH SOAP AND WATER if its not a disposible item! Get at least one applicator or two if you can up in there LEAVE IT IN and just use a kotex pad to keep it from getting everthing a mess.DO NOT douch this too is a way of throwing our own PH level off balance!. I did this 3 times a day for get this ONE DAY thats all it took for me. each and every one of those horrible symptoms disappeared. You certainly can call at the very least your Dr.s nurse and speak to her or him about using the yogurt remedy. Once you get that under control youll need to get to the root of why you may have gotten it in the first place so it is less likely to return and antibiotics are a major culprit so are THONG UNDERWEAR!!! Believe it or not more women get a arrray of infections from thong underwear because the stringy is up against your you know. Its the perfect host for bacteria to thrive in.These bacterias can then TRAVEL DOWN THE STRING AND THEN IT HAS NOW BEEN INTRODUCED INTO YOUR VAGINA. So try the yogurt and contact your dr to discuass possible causes and if indeed it is even a yeast infection and not something else going on and hopefully it was just a freak thing and not something that is chronic. I'll pray for you on that ok?

It is usually reccomended that you apply before bed. This way it can work all night and you don't have to worry about feeling messy with the cream during the day. Obviously the longer it is on the more relief you will get and the quicker the yeast will resolve.

Yeast infection and a 7 day cure...?
So. I live in a small town that consists of a family dollar, a grocery store and a gas station. The closest walmart is like 30 minutes away.

That being said, I have a really painful, annoying, frustrating yeast infection. I was hoping to go to walmart today and get monistat 7 (after reading reviews I was terrified to try 1 or 3). I ended up not being able to go today so I got the Family Dollar brand of Miconazole 7. It has the same ingedients and amounts as monistat 7. I took the first application a few minutes ago, and... nothing. No pain. At all. I'm afraid that it isn't working after reading all the horrifying reviews about monistat. Has anyone ever used this?

Monistat 7 cream ran out on day 5?
I am using monistat 7 (the cream, not the pill) for a yeast infection and the cream is practically gone and it's day 5 of 7! I haven't used it for topical treatment either, just for the 'injection'.

All my symptoms are gone so should I still buy another pack so I can finish the treatment?

I really don't want to buy another because it's expensive but I will if I need to.

If it was me I would just finish the treatment on day 5. It's quite likely that it will be enough. However, it is possible that it will come back in a few weeks and if that happens you will need further treatment.

I've had plenty of yeast infections and I have cut the treatment short without a problem. I think you will be okay.

Good luck

Would it be harmful to use Monistat if no yeast infection existed?

Can you use regular Monistat to cure ringworm?
Regular meaning not "Monistat-derm".

If you could include why it does or does not work I'd be interested in that also.
Thanks in advance!

Run and get that Monistat! It works! now read on and why.

How do medications target ringworm?
To stop ringworm, medications must have the necessary components to kill fungi. As such, many of the antifungal medications prescribed for ringworm are topical or applied directly on the skin. Some of the most common include ketoconazole (Nizoral), clotrimazole (Mycelex), terbinafine (Lamisil) and miconazole (Monistat).

Is increased itching after applying Monistat external cream normal?
I heard this may be a side effect. Also, how long does it take to feel relief from Monistat 3 combo pack? I put in a suppository yesterday at about 5 pm, and it is almost 8 pm the next day and i dont have much itching unless i apply the cream, and then it only itches/burns for about 5 mins.

I have itching and burning whenever I use that external cream. It's usually so bad, I don't even bother with it. I just use the internal "egg" thingy (one dose treatment) and use Vagisil on the outside. It burns too, but only for a minute and then it gets numb. My mother recommends "slapping some plain yogurt up in there." That may help too, but I haven't actually tried that yet.

Women that had used monistat Help please!!!?
Hre is the thing: when I was in NJ.(USA) I started feeling itchy and burning on my vagina so I went to a doctor and she said I has a yeast infection and recommended me to use Monistat cream to relieve itchy and burning symptoms .Also as i had this white discharge ,she took a sample and told me to go back to see what else than the yeast infection i could had because she though that my discharge was thicker than normally. Then I didnt have time to go anymore over there but I did bought the cream and used it. The weird thing is that the doctor told me to buy and use the cream ..I mean she didn't say anything about the ovules...so i went to wallgreens and was confused abt what to buy...then I finally got the MONISTAT 1 combination pack that came with 2 ovules . So I didn't know if I should say that instructions on monistat package said or just tu put the cream on my vagina as the doctor told me and I did the second thing. So, as the pain , burn and itchy was gone after four days I though that was it ( that was first week of April) ...Now ( 3 months later) I am having the same symptoms and im not in the US anymore I've already found the cream that works like monistat. But Why did this infection come back? Should I have used the ovules when I used monistat for the first time? I mean , maybe cuz I didnt use the ovules and just the cream i didnt cure the infection and tha's why came back. IDK. help me.. now. i have the ovules form monistat cuz i brought them to my country just in case but i think i can get the cream the spanish version at least. finally t's the same thing.. but I dont know that if I had used the ovules on the first time The infection would havent come back :S.. ....please help me.. cuz i feel itchy and burning when i pee,,,,the discharge is normal. but I feel pain, burn and itchy and I wanna know if I can used the ovules now and the cream ( like the moninstat treatment) and maybe with that my infection will be cured? or it's just that I'll alway get the infection after having it once....

Pd: sorry my english but Im spanish speaker who studies english :)...and as everything happened over there im making this question I do need ur help!

All Monistat does is treat the pain and itching. A yeast infection has to be treated with an antibiotic--something that will actually get rid of the infection. All you did was mask the pain. I would see another doctor and ask for an antibiotic to get rid of your yeast infection.

azithromycin 5 day pack aka z-pac

tioconazole 6.5 % 1 day treatment aka monistat-1

I just stared the z-pac treatment today, took the first 2 pills about 1/2 hour ago. Can I take the monistat too or should I wait & see if the z-pac treats both the chest/sinus infection & the yeast infection?

I would wait a few days before treating the yeast infection, the antibiotic may cause it to get worse. antibiotics such as azithromycin are broad spectrum and kill all bacteria in the body including the good ones since enhances chance of yeast infection. If you already have one theres a good chance it will get worse. You could start on some of the oral OTC meds out there to control symptoms, AZO makes one. There are also probiotics that help to maintain balance in the body, acidophilus is a good one, you can buy it at any drug store.

hope this helps..!

Has anyone used the monistat 1 combination pack (one treatment) and had it worked. I've never used it, only the 3 day treatment once. But I don't want to wait THAT long before being able to be active again.

Can I use Monistat 3 during the day as well?
I bought Monistat 3 last night. I inserted the ovule last night and it really helped. The directions say that your supposed to use one at bedtime every night. But its the afternoon and my symptoms are starting up again. I want to take the second ovule. Is that ok? Or do I need to wait until bedtime? Does it matter?

I suggest you wait until night. The Monistat 3 contains a high level of chemicals (higher than the 7 day dosage). Using too much too soon can actually make your yeast infection worse. You'll also find that if you insert the ovule at say 5pm you'll leak fluids all night (not good if you are wanting to be up and about.)

Every time I've gone in for my regular women's checkup, I wind up testing positive for a yeast infection and so my obgyn prescribes me medicine to get rid of it, but I haven't been able to go to my regular checkup lately because I no longer have any health insurance and just to go in and see my doctor would cost me $50 outta pocket which i can't really afford right now. So since I'm almost 100% sure that what I have is a yeast infection, I want to try treating this myself this time and I'm going to be buying some Monistat but I don't know which kind to go with. I'd like to get rid of this dang infection before the weekend so I think the 3 day would be my best choice, but is the 3 day treatment as effective as the 7 day treatment? If it's not, I'll just go ahead and get the 7 day treatment because I don't want to wind up wasting my money or any more time on something that doesn't work.

the 3 day, and even 1 day are just as effective as the 7 day. i don't know why anyone would ever do the 7 day anymore. i usually use the 1 day treatment and it goes away completely in about 3 days.

How long after taking diflucan and Monistat 3 Should I wait to have sex?
After my period, I caught a mild yeast infection. Today is Tuesday and last night was my last treatment of monistat 3, and I took the Diflucan pill this past Friday. How long should I wait to have sex? The symptoms are gone, which they weren't bad from the beginning, meaning only the discharge. Also, if the answer is like (tonight) or something, should I use a condom? BTW this is my husband, Thanks in advance.

I think it all depends on how you are feeling. If you feel better then go ahead, if you still feel slightly itchy then I would hold off and continue using Monistat. If you are concerned about giving your husband a yeast infection then go ahead and use a condom.

Monistat 3 questions..?
okkey, just started using monistat 3 about 15 minutes ago, so far, so good, no extreme burning or anything yet, although I didn't buy the combination pack, that included the external cream, will it still cure my yeast infection rash if i dont use the external cream...?
I use tea tree oil on my face, and I actually tried that but I was scared because I know tea tree oil can burn....so I used a verrry very small amount down there lol it didnt do much, but maybe a bit more would help, that and I only did it once or twice

How can I treat yeast infection without monistat?
I've tried monistat 3 times now and I cannot shake a yeast infection. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with it and she prescribed me a pill. I've taken the pill before and it did not work. I am not spending 70 bucks on a stupid pill that doesn't even work. Are there any home remedies that I can try?

Here are listed a couple of the home remedies for yeast infection:

· Regularly daubing apple cider vinegar in the areas prone to this infection. Your can add some garlic to stop the itchy feeling; and water to dilute the vinegar concentration

· Curds or yogurt is regarded as one of the best home remedies. In fact, it is advisable to soak a tampon into curds and place it in the infected region for at least an hour. Basically, the healthy required bacteria from the curds will replace the unhealthy yeast bacteria. This could be repeated twice to thrice a day.

· Drink at least two glasses of buttermilk a-day, whether infected or not. In fact making curds a part of the daily diet in take reduces the probability of yeast infection.

· Mixture of olive leaf extract with grapefruit seed extraction a glass of water is a good curative tonic for this infection.

Home remedy using Yogurt

Take a tampon and dip it in yogurt. Insert in the vagina, twice a day. Continue this remedy for an extra day after your symptoms go away.
Tea Tree Oil

A few drops of tea tree oil poured on a tampon and inserted in the vagina can provide some relief.
Garlic

For non-vaginal yeast infections, you can apply garlic paste directly on the affected parts. This remedy is for other affected parts of the body and not for the vaginal yeast infection.

Is there any way to get a good night sleep when using Monistat 7?
When I use Monistat 7 for a yeast infection, I am tossing and turning every night for a week. It's bad enough that I have a yeast infection, but then I'm dealing with lack of sleep too. It's the cream and the leakage and the uncomfortableness... Is there anything I can do? Of course I want the infection to go away, but now I dread having to go to bed.

Used Monistat. Now have vaginal burning. OBGYN not in till Monday.?
I've had vaginal irritation for a couple days, but today (friday) it seemed worse. So I searched the internet and all signs pointed to yeast infection. So I bought Monistat Combination Pack 1 and used it. Now 2-3 hours later I have intense burning. I called my OBGYN's officed earlier but they are out until monday. Why do they take any time off at all? Anyway I'm asking and begging please help. what should i do? i've never had anything like this.

Don't worry, you will be fine. Just wash yourself off, and don't use it until you know if you have a yeast infection or not. If you have some sort of infection, your vagina is going to be irritated, so its not out of the realm of possibility that using a yeast infection cream would burn. Whether you have a yeast infection or a bacterial infection, Monistat isn't going to hurt you-you don't need to go to the E.R!

Personally, I would wait until the antibiotics are done with if it's just a few days. Meanwhile buy the cheapo monistat 7.
Every time I take antibiotics i get a yeast infection because it kills off the teeny little anti-yeast warriors in the vagina.

Otherwise it is a waste of monistat 3! If you're rich and it doesn't matter, just use the monistat both now and later!

Also buy some vagisil! it's not going to kill the yeast but it's great itch relief! works for bug bites too.

Using monistat...feeling a little better...?
I wrote yesterday about if I have a yeast infection or not. I got the monistat 3 combination pack...it has cream in there along with the supositories. Before bed last night, I put the cream on and did one of the supositories. I slept well last night. When I woke up this morning, I felt pretty great. No itch at all. I peed, no burn! IT WAS GREAT!

Now, after being up for a couple hours, and working around the house, the itch is coming back.

IS THIS NORMAL???

Thanks guys...

You should call your OB/gyn or regular doc so they can call in a Diflucan for you. The over the counter stuff is not the way to go. It can help mask some of the symptoms but usually doesn't cure it. Diflucan is what you want. It's just one pill and should cure the infection.

You might also have something else going on, so they might want to take a urine sample, too. Don't be surprised if they want to see you.

Most doctors have a way of working you in the very same day when you have these symptoms, they know you need to be seen asap.

Take care and get well soon.

How can I feel comfortable using Monistat 7, when I've never actually inserted anything into my vagina?
So I believe I have a yeast infection, so I bought Monistat 7. I've never used tampons, masturbated, nor had sex. I tried inserting the applicator into my vagina but I felt uncomfortable (very uncomfortable) and a little bit of pain, so I just stopped trying for now.
I was wondering how would I be able to feel more comfortable inserting the applicator?

Thank you!

I lay on the floor. Believe it or not it makes things easier. You can also try sitting down on the toilet. Just take your time, I know it's uncomfortable but it gets easier. Not that I'm saying you're going to have a lot of YI in your life but, it gets easier to insert things up there over time.

Word of warning though, the medicine might itch. In fact it might itch like crazy. I usually shoot for the 1 day ovule monistat cause I only have to deal with it one day and it's a million times less itchy then just the straight up cream in there. Might be something to look into. Like I tried the cream once a long time ago, and I literally couldn't take it after a while it bothered me so much. Never did it again. But maybe it's just me. I'd still recommend the ovule though.

Also, after you insert and inject the meds, wear a pad. Because they're going to slowly leak back out over the next day or two and you don't want to mess up your underwear.

unwrapped items in Monistat 1..to trust or not to trust???
I've just purchased a monistat 1 combination pack.
When I opened it the applicator barrel was not wrapped. It doesn't mention anything on the directions about unwrapping it, but you would think, it should be wrapped because you are inserting it inside...
Also, the ovule insert was sealed completely in the foil package, but it didn't have the little paper backing it is showing in the directions. Don't know whether to trust it or not??
I've called the 1-800 number but they're currently closed. It is way passed my bedtime and I was hoping I'd have this taken care of..this sucks balls.

I have a yeast infection and I accidentally used Vagisil instead of Monistat 7 in my vagina. Am I ok?
I have been using Monistat 7. That's the applicator insert that cures yeast infections. I accidentally grabbed the wrong tube and filled the applicator with regular Vagisil - the anti-itch cream. I didn't realize it until I inserted the applicator and pushed the plunger. Will I be okay? I know vagisil is an external cream. Please help.

Is Monistat 7 a good thing to use for a yeast infection?
For a few days my vagina has been very itchy and it burns if i use the bathroom or touch it. I have alot of thick white discharge as well. I've been taking Axocillian for a few days for a bladder infection and i think i got a yeast infection from taking it. Is monistat 7 a good thing to use?

Does Monistat 1 combination pack work?
I've heard all the horror stories about the irritation, burning, itching, pain after using this (mostly from people who try it during the day, which is just a no no) but I've also heard that the infection cleared within a week without irritation. I am going to use this tonight before I go to bed and I'm prepared to experience some discomfort. But in your experience, has this product been effective? (I know it doesn't work in 1 day, it isn't called Monistat 1 day, it is 1 dose. It's supposed to work within a week) How bad were your symptoms when you used this? And how long did they last? Thanks!
So pretty much what I've heard is that it depends on the person and your bodies reaction to it.

I used monistat 1:'day or night ' 5 days ago. I’m still experiencing some symptoms of YI?
So i bought Monistat 1 day and did it over night. Yes the itching and burning during treatment was horrible but i managed and i felt as if it were killing all the bacteria. I believe its been 5days and ive been using the itch relief cream it came with every day for the past 5days but i still get itchy here and there. The Discharge is different now. I almost feel like it looks like the about to get my period color discharge except way more watery and clear. i shouldnt get my period for another 2weeks. So any suggestions from people who have used this product??
I havent taken a bath because i dont have access to one right now. I take 1-2 showers everyday then dry myself very well then apply the ointment, i try to take care of the problem. Theres been no intercourse.

Question about Monistat 3?
I was recently diagnosed with a yeast infection and last night was the first night I used the Monistat 3 combination pack. I inserted it like I was told and things were ok. This morning when I woke up and went to the bathroom I noticed more discharge than I had the night before. Is this normal? Does the suppository work like that in pushing everything out or is that the suppository that is leaking out?
The itching is still pretty bad but the discharge seems to have lightened up. This morning though I noticed a slight greenish mucasy discharge. It's only been once and it wasn't much. Is this normal and what can I do about the itching (outside of going to the doctor- I can't afford it).

question on monitat 3 (yeast infection)?
hey guys. Im 16. So on friday morning i noticed my vagine (vulva area) statred itching a little. since, it has gotten a lot worse. On sunday i decided to finally tell ,my mom. we went to rite aid and bought monistat 3 combination pack (has cooling wipes, the applicators, ovules, and itch cream). We decided that i would insert the ovules at night (around 10 before i go to bed). and during the day (to subside the itching) apply vagisil itch cream. So i used the vagisil during the day and it soorrttt of worked :/ like it was okay. Then at 10 i inserted the ovule for the first time with little pain. THe reason it was a little painful is bc my vuvla is superr sore feeling... llike it stings:( I wore a pad at night bc i heard that it kind of leaks. I woke up in the morning and threw the pad away not thinking to check it. i assumed that the leaking was done. But during the day i would go to the bathroom and notice a light brownish almost chunky (yuckkk) discharge. So is that saying the monistat is leaking or is my infection worse? btw my vulva is definatly way less sore than yesterday so i guess the monistat worked well in that aspect but idk about the itching....it seems just as bad (maybe a LITTLE better)

please ansswer :(

thank you.
Libby :)

There is some leakage when using the Monistat ovules-
And you should notice even more improvement with the 2nd treatment.

And by the 3rd it should really be a lot better.

Sometimes, tho, you may have to use another 3 day treatment (This is not unusual - some yeast infections take more than the 3 days
Be sure that you wear a panty liner when you go out.

If for some reason . you think that the infection is not getting any better, it might be wise to be evaluted by
your doctor, because there is another type of infection which is really more common than a yeast infection.
It is call Bacterial Vaginosis and this does require a doctor's visit and a doctor's prescritpion.
But, for now, keep using the Monistat and the discharge is normal.

Its the same thing-just different brand. If you read the package it has the same stuff in it. But my doctor said its best to use a 3 day treatment. She said that 1 day is usually not enough to clear it up all the way and it is more likely to come pack.

The Doctor told me, no sex until treatment is finished, treat both partners, and do not have sex during 7 day treatment even with condom on, it irrates, even if you feel better. best to be safe than sorry.

is he circumsized? if not.........then he needs to be treated with 3-7 day monostat as well. keep up the treatment, and eat yogurt, and avoid sweets, coffee and sugars, this is what makes yeast grow in us. Among other things.

Wear cotton panites, and toss all strech jeans.
wear loose comfy jeans, cotton.
and good luck!
