Is there anyway you can become high off of Nabumetone?
My 16 year old daughter just got prescribed Nabumetone and she is a recovering drug addict who is a lot better now. I was wondering if she could possibly get high off on Nabumetone or become addicted to Nabumetone.

I don't believe there's anything to worry about that drug. It's a non-narcotic pain reliever and used for inflammation. Yea people can get high if they took too much pills BUT Only if the medication allows it. This one doesn't and i think if she were to abuse it, it would only lead to sickness and hopefully not a convulsion. Usually when you take a pill (narcotic or amphetine etc) or drug you would defenitaly notice its effect. With this one..not so much.

Can i take nabumetone with flexeril?
These are both new medications for me. The flexeril is a 30 day script the nabumetone is long term. Been taking the flexeril 21 days just started nabumetone today. The nabumetone has made me sleepy but i still feel sore all over.

Yes you can take them together.
Nabumetone (Relafen) is a NSAID, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Cyclobenzaprine HCl (Flexeril) is a long acting muscle relaxer. Cyclobenzaprine is structurally related to the first-generation tricyclic antidepressants like Elavil.
Most likely, it's the Flexeril that is making you sleepy. Relafen is in the same category as Advil (ibuprofen), Aleve (naproxen sodium), Orudis (ketoprofen), etc and there's nothing sedating about it.

Be sure to take the Relafen with food. NSAIDs are hard on your stomach and can cause an ulcer.

Is it okay to take doxycycline with nabumetone?
The doxycycline is to help me out with my acne while im using nabumetone for my knees due to excessive jogging and inflammation in them. Would I be okay to take these both?

Your best (and safest) bet would be to ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs you're wanting to take. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you quickly if you can safely take them together or not.... anyone here will just have a best guess from searching on the internet (which isn't always accurate, as we all know) ;-)
If the same doctor prescribed both, I would hope they checked their database to verify that they wouldn't interact, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

Tablets for Oral Administration: Each oval-shaped, film-coated tablet contains 500 mg or 750 mg of nabumetone. Inactive ingredients consist of hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium starch glycolate, and titanium dioxide. The 750-mg tablets also contain iron oxides.

Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis: The recommended starting dose is 1,000 mg taken as a single dose with or without food. Some patients may obtain more symptomatic relief from 1,500 mg to 2,000 mg per day. RELAFEN can be given in either a single or twice-daily dose. Dosages greater than 2,000 mg per day have not been studied. The lowest effective dose should be used for chronic treatment (see WARNINGS, Renal Effects). Patients weighing under 50 kg may be less likely to require dosages beyond 1,000 mg; therefore, after observing the response to initial therapy, the dose should be adjusted to meet individual patients' requirements.

Take care

Ibuprofen is motrin, nabumetone is Relafen, both are NSAIDs..nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs..they both do the same thing, have about the same side effects profile.Relafen was marketed as being a little easier on the GI-stomach,as its eliminated more through kidneys...if you are taking diuretics then you have to watch out for toxic effects to the kidneys.

My 500 mg Nabumetone (generic for Relafen) tablets are now yellow. Is there something wrong with that?

I would call your pharmacy to make sure that the drug is correct. Most likely they switched manufacturers and it looks different but you need to double check to make sure.

Onset of action is usually within hours. But I would give it a good week to evaluate it completely.

Why would you even consider taking drugs that you have no idea what they are and you are asking people on a site-you don't know us- are you silly or just a drug addict.? Time to get some help before you kill your self, or destroy your brain. Yes I know what all those drugs are, and they all can hurt you. Consider emailing me. Do NOT TAKE THEM ReggieR

Can I take Nabumetone( Gen Relafen) after its expired?
Its 500 mg tablets that were prescribed in '06 and expired on 07/06/07. So im wondering if they would be dangerous to my health to take them or will they still work. Theres just so many here i hate to just get rid of them. I heard somewhere that some pills could be taken after their expiration date.

The dosage is very minimal; however, the medication has lost its shelflife over 3 years ago; and you would tend to want to take more because you might not get any results. I would get rid of it; read the side effects for the fresh stuff; I wouldn't take if it was fresh! SIDE EFFECTS: Most patients, benefit from nabumetone and other NSAIDs with few side effects. However, serious side effects can occur, and generally tend to be dose related. Therefore, it is advisable to use the lowest effective dose to minimize side effects. The most common side effects of nabumetone involve the gastrointestinal system. Some studies have shown that nabumetone may have a lower risk of gastrointestinal side effects than the other NSAID medications. However, like the other NSAID medications, it still can cause ulcerations, abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, gastritis, and even serious gastrointestinal bleeding, and liver toxicity. Sometimes, ulceration and bleeding can occur without any abdominal pain. Black tarry stools, weakness, and dizziness upon standing may be the only signs of internal bleeding. Rash, kidney impairment, ringing in the ears, and lightheadedness also can occur. NSAIDs reduce the ability of blood to clot and therefore increase bleeding after an injury. Nabumetone should be avoided by patients with a history of exacerbation of asthma, hives, or other allergic reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Rare but severe allergic reactions have been reported in such individuals

This is not exactally a pain killer it is an NSAID. If motrin works better for you I would take that. If the pain is not totally gone in 10 days go back to the doctor. You can also try capsacin, it is over the counter alternative med. But it has been shown to work in joint pain.

No idea, but assuming it is YOUR prescription *i know tons of pple that take scripted meds, very few of the bottles bear their names* if you tell them, they will make accomodations. What that means is if you're possotive for that type of drug, they'll ignore it and chock it up to your meds. I have no idea what nabumetone is, though.
