Topical Nystatin + triamcinolone is an antifungul combination that prevents fungus from growing and reduces dermatitis (skin inflamation, swelling and redness). Triamcinolone is a high potency steroid commonly used to treat any type of dermatitis. Be cautious to do not exceed the prescribed dosages especially if you have diabetes. Steroid medications are absorbed through the skin easily and they tend to increase your glicemic levels (blood glucose) or urine glucose. If your urianalysis reports a positive test for sugar that isn't supposed to be, dont panic first tell the doctor that you are using a corticosteroid its due to the steroid or you may have a undiagnosed condition. How to apply a topical medication? well, you should apply a thin layer of the topical medication to your skin and rub in gently until completely dissolved. The most common side effects are blurred vision (or seeing halos around lights), palpitations, changes in mood, sleep disturbance, weight gain, facial puffiness, and feeling tired.

Where to buy Mycolog-II (Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream) without a prescription?
I'm looking to buy a couple of tubes of Mycolog-II, the generic version is called Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream, without a prescription.

It is simply a skin ointment cream, nothing crazy, but it requires a prescription and I dont have insurance and would simply like to order some quickly.

Thanks for any help/links.

NO. The preparation that you are talking about is useful for treating inflammatory candida (yeast) infections of the skin, but has absolutely NO effect on dermatophyte (mold type) infections which cause tinea pedis.

Triamcinolone acetonide is a medicine for treating diseases like inflammation disorder, connective tissues disorder, problems with the adrenal cortex and especially in allergic reaction. The drug is usually not recommended for children because triamcinolone affects their growth rate. Please visit http://triamcinoloneacetonidecream.net fro more info.

Ring worm is cause by fungal infection, look for a anti fungal infection ointment such as dermisil.

It is an antifungal and corticosteroid cream or ointment. The combination treats Candida (yeast) infections of the skin and helps to reduce the swelling, redness, and itching that may occur with these infections.

Triamcinolone is a fluronated cortisone product, and as such, can be used on inflammatory skin disorders. However, it is too strong to use on the face, as it can cause skin atrophy and damage to underlying blood vessels. Thus, to use it on your popped blood vessel is not only not indicated, but is totally WRONG, as it will cause further damage.

Is it dangerous to ingest Triamcinolone Acetonide paste?
About one week ago I was using Kenalog in Orabase (aka Triamcinolone Acetonide) oral paste for a canker sore I had, and then a few days later my stomach and digestive system started to bother me. I had, and still have some pain in the below my ribs, a strange "cold" acidy feeling down my esophagus, and an overall feeling of "yuck."

Can this medication, if swallowed, cause peptic ulcers? I didn't swallow much at all, and a few months before when I used it, more was swallowed than this time and I had no problems. What do you think? Can Triamcinolone Acetonide paste, if ingested, cause an ulcer? Or could this just be a stomach flu? Thank you!

I suggest go and see your doctor.

Only the doctor can prescribe this medicine because this medicine has a side effect. If the patient is under certain vaccines, such as measles or mumps it can interact with triamcinolone acetonide. The same with people who have diabetes, bacterial and viral infection; also other drugs can add risk of side effect like barbiturates. Another concern is that triamcinolone acetonide may lower the ability of the body to fight infection. It is therefore imperative to avoid people who have colds or other types of infections. The drug is usually not recommended for children because triamcinolone affects the growth rate in children.

Ringworm is a fungal infection where as eczema is caused by an allergic reaction,
So it seems very unlikely that the medication can help,
As your asking about the medication,
I presume you have not had the ringworm diagnosed by a doctor, as there are many skin complaints that resemble ringworm,
One that comes to mind is psoriasis, which is a virus, and the medication for ringworm and psoriasis are not compatible

Can you use triamcinolone acetonide cream on a ringworm?
I've tried so many things to get rid of ringworms, and they don't really work. I have some cream that I was prescribed a few weeks ago called triamcinolone acetonide and I was wondering if i could use that on a ringworm.

Although a topical corticosteroid like triamcinolone is sometimes used to help relieve the itching, this should be avoided as much as possible. Steroids are never used as the only treatment in ringworm infections, as their use may worsen the infection and make the fungus more likely to spread into the hair follicles
The best med out there for ringworm is Terbinafine (Lamasil). You can buy the cream over the counter. Apply twice a day for 2-3 weeks. (Morning and night is easiest)
Also, how many ringworm marks do you have? If you have a cluster that has formed a plaque you need to see your doctor because you will need an oral med to treat it and a topical will not suffice.

Do Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment treat vulvitis?
My vulva always have this tingling feeling sometimes it itches??? Would this ointment work? and what's wrong with my vulva??SERIOUS ANSWERS!

  Hello,

It depends on what is the matter. Nystatin is used to treat Thrush, (Monilial or yeast infection), and Triamcinoline is a strong steroid cream, with a strength about equivalent to Betnovate. Steroid creams are used to treat inflamed skin from any cause. So this might help, and application for a short time would do no harm, in my opinion.

It's not at all an easy thing, to discuss such intimate problems on the internet. However, of course the vulva is a composite structure anatomically, there are the minor lips and the major lips, the introitus, the urethra, all that. We don't know what is the worst affected in your case.

It would make a difference if you had any sort of vaginal discharge, because if you did, that might be irritating the vulva.

It would make a difference if you had any waterwork symptoms, for a similar reason.

The same for if you have any other skin problems, - some ordinary skin problems can also affect the vulva.

We don't know how old you are, and that does make a difference because the vulva tends to get different problems as you get older.

Perhaps if we had a few more details, it might help, but it might also be a good idea for a doctor or Gynaecologist to have a look?

I hope this is of some help.

Best wishes,

Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP?

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to nystatin or triamcinolone.

Before using nystatin and triamcinolone, tell your doctor if you have any type of skin infection (especially tuberculosis infection of the skin), or if you have chicken pox or herpes infection (including cold sores).
Also tell your doctor if you have diabetes. Topical steroid medicines absorbed through the skin may increase the glucose (sugar) levels in your blood or urine.
Use this medication exactly as it has been prescribed by your doctor. Do not use the medication in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Topical steroid medicine can be absorbed through the skin, which may cause steroid side effects throughout the body.

Place a drop of oral nystatin on your nipples or the cream nystatin?
If breastfeeding and you and your baby have thrush, would you put a drop of baby's oral nystatin on your nipples or the cream nystatin (for his yeast diaper rash)?
My friend placed the oral nystatin on her nipples.
Websites say to use the cream.
The pediatrician and the lactation consultant said it's okay to apply the cream. I forgot to ask them both about the oral nystatin instead
Hello

I know Nystatin works for diaper rash and sore nipples. The reason you are applying after each feeding is because you should be cleaning your nipples before you feed. Even though you are giving your baby Nysatin orally the cream, I believe, is for external use only.

Also, just a tidbit of info, there is a thing called Gentian Violet. This works 10 times faster to get rid of the thrush. However, it turns almost everything including your breast purple, it helps the thrush go away so much faster. It is the same thing that they put on the umbilical cord when they are born to help dry it out.

The only reason I know of this, is because my daughter had thrush and she was allergic to Nystatin and gave her a terrible tummy ache. They then prescribed the other and it was a whole 3 dollars at Uptown Drug. I'm sure you can get it just about any drug store. This also helps with the nipples.

Your sore nipples will heal in time and the second and third aren't quite as painful to nurse.

Please go to the site I have linked here for you. It will take you directly to the right page and the second page it tells you about the Gentian Violet. Trust me it works wonders.

Good luck

  Hi Neighbor

Not sure about creams you're reffering to but here are some other ideas to help the healing process.

Here is a herb remedy that will work.

1. Take 1-3 droppersful of Echinacea Plus Tincture (at herbdoc.com or another qualified site) to strengthen the immune system.

2. Rub Garlic oil ALL over the affected area (Garlic will kill anything if you use enough of it)

3. Give 1-3 glasses of Activated Charcoal Slurry per day (to absorb the toxins out of the blood)

4. Mix equal parts of Aloe Vera Gel, Slippery Elm Powder and Activated Charcoal Powder together (absorbs the toxins externally)

5. Apply a thin layer of this mixture over the AFFECTED area(s).

6. Continue this treatment, until the desired Results are achieved.

This is healing at it's highest point.

Cause
Eczema is often called Dermatitis, and may be a symptom of an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency. Eczema can be due to allergies, allergies secondary to digestive disorders such as hydrochloric acid deficiency, rashes secondary to immune diseases, genetic metabolic disorders, and/or nutritional deficiencies, especially of niacin (vitamin B3) and B6, as well as other B vitamins.

To minimize your risk of developing eczema, avoid irritating substances, wear natural nonirritating materials, use soothing ointments, and check to see if dietary, nutritional, and/or and allergy-causing factors need to be considered.

Other ideas that will help:

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can help speed healing: black currant and red grapes; carrot, beet, spinach, cucumber, and parsley; and wheat grass juice.

Nutritional Supplementation: Vitamin A and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), an omega-6 essential fatty acid found in high quantities in evening primrose oil, have both been shown to improve the symptoms of eczema. Vitamin E. Other useful supplements for preventing and reversing eczema include vitamin B complex, vitamin B6, vitamin E, magnesium, and zinc.

Topical Treatment: Apply evening primrose oil directly to cracked and sore areas of the skin. A topical paste made from ginkgo and licorice root extract has also been shown to improve eczema symptoms.

Best of health to you

What is Your Experience with Diflucan in treating a candida infection?
I was on antiobiotics for over a year to treat acne. After completing this, I developed oral thrush due to probable overuse of the antibiotics. My doc put me on nystatin which worked for a while but i recently had a flareup and some intestinal issues, which makes us think I might have a systemic candida infection. He has once again proscribed nystatin and now diflucan. Have people had success with this?

Diflucan will work to help with symptoms if you have an overgrowth of candida in your digestive system but the only real way to try to get rid of it is through proper diet. Not eating foods that the yeast thrives on is the most important thing to do to restore the balance. Get yourself a supplement like Candida Cleanse at your local health food store.

Can taking expired Oral Nystatin harm you or make you ill?
I have a bottle of Oral Nystatin that I used a while ago as I take medication that sometimes rings on thrush. It's come back, and I won't be able to get to the doctor for over a week.

The bottle I have expired in January this year, will it be safe to take still? I know medication loses potency, but will it make me sick as it is a liquid med.

Nystatin is a "prescription only" medicine, but there are many other anti-fungal OTC meds that you can purchase without an RX. Go to your local pharmacist and tell them what your problem is, and they can recommend an appropriate OTC med to try. If that doesn't work, then you will probably need to be seen by a practitioner at a local clinic, (Planned Parenthood is always an option, they charge by "sliding scale fees" based upon your income level), urgent care or MD office.

I have two daughters ages 1 and 3. Both have been getting mysterious bumps. Any ideas?
These bumps seemed to have started in my oldest daughter when we first moved to a new apartment about 2 months ago. They're more prominent on the knees, feet, hands and elbows but have spread pretty much eveywhere except her face. Just recently I've noticed some bumps forming on my younger daughters hands, feet and knees. My wife and I took the 3 year old to a dermatoligist who said that it looked like "bug bites". He prescribed a cream (triamcinolone acetonide) and an anti- itch medicine(hydroxyz hcl) which didn't seem to help at all. We took her again and were told that it was "infected excema", she was given another cream(locoid lipocream) and an antibiotic(cephalexin). This seems to have stopped the bumps from getting worse, but I don't know if I would say its the cure. We have a dog we have had him for 3 years, no fleas. The new apartmet is a basement apartment. I'm getting a little nervous now that my younger one is getting the same bumps. I would appreciate any help solving this

Yes, it seems too coincidental that both kids are getting this. My "guess" is that they are having a reaction to something in the apartment. A lot of times the complex will shampoo the rugs and spray for bugs before new tennants move in. It could be either one of these or both that are causing a reaction. The only thing I can recommend you do is take the girls and stay with friends or relatives for a week and see if they improve (without medication). If they do, then it's something in the apartment. If it's something in the apartment, then I would demand new pad & carpeting. Good luck.

can lescol ( Fluvastatin) cause thrush or a white tongue?
I have had thrush for a month and been taking nystatin for it. It started getting better. I have a week ago stopped taking my lescol for high cholesterol because i think it may be why i got the white tongue. Am still on my nystatin and started to take my lescol again a few days ago and my tongue is beginning to burn again. I have tried looking for side effects of lescol but have not found one that has to do with thrush... Anyone ever have that problem?

I'm not aware of that as a common or even uncommon side effect of fluvastatin. If you've had the thrush confirmed as that then it's probably what it is and I have really no useful ideas, but I know that some allergic reactions to medications can present as a thrush-looking rash on the inside of the mouth. This might be more likely if it's only one side of your mouth or tongue as opposed to covering it.

How can I get rid of my son's yeast diaper rash (thrush)?
My breastfeeding son and I were diagnosed with thrush a few months ago... he had it in his mouth and on his fingers, and me on my nipples, of course. We were both put on Nystatin creams and oral meds. They didn't work. Then we were put on oral Diflucan. That didn't work. Since then, the yeast has spread to my baby's diaper-area, and is now heading down his thighs. It's getting worse and worse. We've also tried Oxistat and now powder Nystatin.

We both seem to be healed, except for his butt. I've also tried Gentian Violet, vinegar, corn starch, salt water baths, etc. etc. This has been going on for SO many months - any help would be appreciated.
I have also tried Desatin and A&D - they were my first lines of defense.

Lotramin, for athlete's foot is sometimes prescribed. Use it after every diaper change. It sounds funny, yes, but it works. Remember always wipe baby from front to back. One swipe with one wipe. Will fluocinolone acetonide reduce my bikini rash?
Whenever I shave my bikini line, I always get a horrible rash which usually ends up with white heads. I went to the Pharamcy and I was given a cream with fluocinolone acetonide (0.1mg) Betamethasone Valerate (0.5)...is this going to help reduce the itching and the horrible rash to disappear?? It's so gross, Short of having laser to remove it, this is the best "economical" choice. Any opinions, advice? Its coming up to swimming season....yikes!
I don't live in the USA, so i'm afraid I can't get that cream. Also, I have tried not wearing tight underwear, even NO underwear and the problem still persists....gah!

The cream that you have will reduce the inflammation in the area. In Wal-Mart, they sell this stuff called bikini zone, that might be helpful. The best way to shave is with a brand new razor and shave in the direction that your hair grows. When almost all the hair is gone, then shave in the opposite direction. Make sure not to wear too tight panties.

  HELLO,
According to pharmacy standards, it is not recommended to use expired medications.......however, I have done this very thing before with no real problems ocurring. The worst that can happen is that the medication in not as potent as it would be in it's original state and may not be as effective......so if you give it a try and your infection does not clear up....then I would recommend that you telephone your doctor and request that he/she call a new rx in to the pharmacy of your choice.....most times they will, but some doctors prefer to see
the patient again to re-assess the condition......or you could call the pharmacy and have them call your doctor for a new refill........
Good Luck

This is a mild corticosteroid that is used, among other things, to treat inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis, or as part of a therapy for melasma (darkening of patches of the skin). It could also be part of an appropriate treatment for acne, but at best it might only treat the symptom (inflammation) and not the cause, which could be hormonal, bacterial or viral. Consult a pharmacist or dermatologist. And if you found a product prescribed for someone else, don't use it.

It is for inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It is too strong for thin skinned areas like the face and groin. It can also make acne and fungal infections worse. I wouldn't use it unless directed by a doctor.

a diabetic I know was asked to do a trial drug for Macular Edema called ASI-001 Fluocinolone Acetonide?
what other treatments are available? We don't want to do a clinical research study if there is good treatment for this.

unfortunately burning with laser is probably the only best treatment for diabetic complications of the retina. I have not heard of this but the steroid nature makes sense, hope it helps and hope your patient gets better, I would refer you to big centers like mayo clinic or cleveland clinics etc, good luck
