You definitely could be pregnant. You are supposed to wait a FULL pack.

Portia birth control pill?
My gyno gave me Portia 28 for birth control, it has 21 active pink pills and 7 inactive white pills. She said start the pink pills the day I get my period. But I was reading about it online, and it said that you're supposed to take the pink active pills for 84 days before you take the inactive white pills, so you only have 4 periods a year. My gyno didn't say anything about taking it for 84 days, and my pharmacy only gave me one pack (I have 5 refills) so I only have 21 pink pills right now. Is the 84 days suggestion only if you want less periods a year? I'm going to call my gyno and ask, but I wanted to get some input here first.

I don't know anything about this pill but it sounds like your doctor has put you on a 28 day version instead of the 84 day version. If you want the 84, call and see about getting your prescription changed.

I need advice from switching from one brand of birth control to another.?
I just changed from Yaz to Aviane (a generic brand of Alesse, Aviane, Enpresse, Lessina, Levlen, Levlite, Levora, Lutera, Lybrel, Nordette, Portia, Sronyx, Tri-Levlen, Triphasil, Trivora).

I heard it's pretty tough on your body to get used to the new brand? I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to what vitamins to take etc.

Contraceptive pills .. which has the least menstruation?
I am looking into the Levonorgestrel Ethinyl Estradiol Pills (extended cycle pills)... I see that Lybrel is a continuous pill that allows NO periods. I want to know what the other brands (Alesse, Levlen, levora, Portia, trivora ect..) menstruation cycles are.. How long and how often? I'm trying to find one that is close to Lybrel.. I want the least amount of periods a year!!!!! =)
An IUD is not in my plans.. I've had one, it hurt and was always giving me problems.

As for the people who say "do not mess with mother nature" please do no respond. Its my choice and I'm trying to make an informed decision on which is the best for ME.

Thank you..

Am I still protected although I had condomless sex less than 7 days after starting the pill?
I started using the pill (Portia, 28 days) two months ago, finished a pack, and then stopped for about a month. I started again on January 13 (last Sunday), which was NOT the first day of my period but the first Sunday. I just reread the pamphlet that came with my birth control and it said that if I did a day 1 start the pills would be effective immediately, but if I did a Sunday start, I needed to wait 7 days. Unfortunately, I forgot this and had condomless sex on January 17, only four days after I started using the pill.

How much do I need to worry about possible pregnancy? I woudl prefer not to take the morning after pill. I was reading this article (http://ec.princeton.edu/questions/dose.html), and it says I could take four BC pills today, then another four 12 hours later, and it would work effectively as emergency contraception. The only part that worries me is that I'm already ON the pill so that would mean taking five per day for two days.

Unfortunately if you didn't wait the 7 days you were not protected from getting pregnant. If you decide to follow the website's instructions just take the 4 pills on each day like it says. If you've already taken 1 today, take 3 more and then 4 more in 12 hours. Your window of time to decide what to do is running out. If it were me, I would go seek out the morning after pill. That way there would be more peace of mind.

Good Luck
