Does Silvadene (Silver Sulfadiazine) cause blistering?
I have an open wound about the size of a dime and my doctor prescribe me Silvadene, The wound itself seems to be getting some better although it still hurts. I noticed after the first night of using the Silvadene that I have a new sore near the wound which now appears to be a blister. After being on the Silvadene for 3 days now, I now have 3 very painful blisters. I ? the doctor and he said it would be okay. I don't agree. Am I having a reaction to the Silvadene? I can't seem to find any side effects on this medicine.. Can someone help me please?!?!?! 		fairy_tale_dreams

  According to the British National Formulary 2008, Silver sulphadiazine cream can cause a variety of skin side effects including blistering. Some of the skin side effects are serious.
It also says that silver sulfadiazine should be stopped if there is a local reaction and blood should be examined .If there is a decrease of white blood cells the application should definitely be stopped.

On the other hand why should you bother much when you can easily stop Silver sulphadiazine and use another drug for your sore.

What is the actual shelf life of Silvadene or Silver sulfadine? Does it just lose potency after expired?

  I'm not sure if the stuff that we use is expired but we've had it for years, since my sis got a really bad burn. And about a month or so ago I had a lighter essentially explode in my hands burning them fairly badly and it worked just fine. It stung a bit at first but once the sting was gone it worked fine and actually made it so that I was capable of sleeping which i had been unable to do because I was in so much pain.

Is silvadene good for heat rash?
I have a terrible sunburn all over my body and my face has a developed a nasty heat rash all over it. I have some silvadene left over from a burn on my hand awhile ago and I was wondering if it would help the rash or burning on my face? 		11710<3

is silver sulfadiazine different from silvadene?
Ive been using the silver sulf stuff for my deep second degree burn, I got it from the er. But the thing is i dont see any type of healing happening for my burn. I posted alot of questions and alot of people have told me that its worked wonders for them. but they refer to it as silvadene. Does it matter which one I use and is that the reason why I havent been healing properly. I've been thinking since its not working to use honey instead.

  Yes it is Silvadene...in the generic form. Keep you burn very clean and keep the silvadene on it good and thick. Keep bandage from getting dirty or wet. Follow your hospital instructions. Did they send you to a burn clinic follow up (or a follow up with your family doc)? If not maybe you should schedule an appointment on your own.

SILVADENE (silver sulfadiazine) stored in a park car for almost an hour! Would you think it's safe to use?
I bought a Silvadiazin cream (generic brand of Silvadene or Silver Sulfadiazine) to be use for my burn hand. But forgot it inside a parked car for almost an hour or so. I've checked the cream's instructions and found that it must be store at a temperature ranging from 15-25 C.

Now my answer is this, is it safe to use this product on my wound eventhough I let it stored on a heated car for more than an hour? Is this kind of drug can be easily damage by an hour of heat?

Please let me know because I am already using the product....

  the best person to anser this question is a pharmist..i would call a local one and ask..just to be safe..no sence using a product that may not even be effective now

  There are many references in medical literature regarding Silvadene cream being used in the treatment of eczema. The major use is when the eczema is advanced enough that sores are present and an anti-microbial in indicated to reduce the risk of infection. I would not use it unless there are open sores or an indication of infection as it may contribute to inflammation if the skin is sensitive to anything in Silvadene. The most common prescription treatments are anti-inflammatory agents such as corticosteroids. Reducing stress is known to cause spontaneous relief from symptoms in some cases, I observed this personally with a co-worker once. If a doctor has not been consulted already, it would be a good idea because several diseases of the derma appear similar but require different treatments and maintenance.   No, but Athlete's foot cream will. Ringworm is a fungus, so is Athlete's foot. Silvadene is for burns and yeast infections.

  Silvadine cream is used for prophylaxis and treatment of 2 to 3 " burns. It is only used topically but isn't recommended for children.

  Vitamin E is really good to help reduce scarring, I use the actual caplets that you would take as a vitamin poke a hole in it and rub it on the area.

why did my skin turn redder after using silvadene?
i had a burn and put slivadene on my burn and it turned redder... 		maddie.

  You probably have a metal allergy or are allergice to another component of silvadene. Use Unguentine on burns instead. It is available on online. I use it because I have bad allergies too. It has a pain reliever it in and it heals the burns fabulously.
